Today has been a great day to get our vacation on! We began our day around 5:30 am and we planned to depart around 6 am. Well, you know me. So what does that mean? My friend, that means that we didn't sit down for breakfast until 7 am and then I ran around like a chicken with her head cut off for the next half hour. We did hit the road around 7:30, but we had to come back because I forgot my instructions for my new underwater camera.
Let's start with breakfast. We had the cray crayist breakfast you have ever heard of. Was it ice cream? No way! I do that often, but don't tell my Nanny! Was it pizza? No, but that was my breakfast of choice in college... We had leftover ziti for breakfast! 7 am and baked ziti are not the best combination but hey, I was not about to let my hard work from Sunday night go to waste. We needed to eat the last serving so that's what we did!
After that, we were smooth sailing. (:
Two separate times today, I had something very strange happen. Maybe I am just weird but let me ask your opinion. How old is too old for a "little kid" of the opposite gender to accompany their parent into that parent's assigned restroom? You may be asking yourself, why in the world is Amy asking me this crazy question when it has nothing to do with her vacay? Twice today, two "little" boys came with their moms into the women's restroom and used it instead of the men's room. The first time was in Georgia and the little boys were about 8 & 10. The second time was in Florida and these boys were maybe 11 & 13! Seriously, maybe I am out of touch because I am not a parent yet, but it made me uncomfortable to be able to see a boy washing his hands through the crack in my bathroom stall. I just think by that age, they should be able to handle themselves, especially because in both cases, there were two boys who could have used the bathroom together. What do you think?
Speaking of Florida, let me tell you about this rest area that we visited at the Florida/Georgia line. If you have followed our blog before or if you know us well, you know that my husband and I have traveled quite a bit over the years. We are kind of experts when it comes to rest areas so I feel ok telling you all the details about this rest area. The rest area, is located right over the Florida border. It was seriously like you hit the jackpot! There were so many resources that we could of spent days just looking through all of their materials.
Finally around 7:00 PM, we arrived in Ocala which was our destination for the night. After we grabbed some dinner, we checked into the hotel and began to go through our luggage. We searched and searched but OH NO! We figured out the first victim of "something always gets left at home!" We always, always, always forget something. We have a check list and everything but somehow we always manage to leave something behind. We forgot Ricky formal night clothes! Big, super, major, massive bummer! However, if this is the only thing left behind, I will be a very happy girl! We were so stressed about not getting my dress wrinkled that we forgot about poor Ricky's clothes. Unless this was his way of trying to weasel out of formal night... Hey, wait a minute... It couldn't be, could it? (: We went ahead tonight and bought Ricky some dress pants. I am not happy about having to spend the money to buy dress pants, but at least it wasn't something more expensive or hard to find that got left behind!
Tomorrow, Ricky has a top secret adventure planned for me. I have no clue where we are going but I am excited. He always plans the best surprises! By tomorrow evening, we hope to make it to Miami. I will trying to update my blog again tomorrow with the latest details of our adventure! Are there any must see/must do adventures that you can recommend? We will be hanging out in Miami and Key West over the next few days. Share those suggestions!
Thanks for reading and sharing our adventure!
Ciao,
Amy & Ricky (who really shouldn't get any credit on this entry because let's face it... He's been asleep for over an hour now!)

There was even a photo booth and free juice available. :-) There were also very friendly workers who could have answered any question you had about the entire state.
There were literally resources about every region of the state in this rest stop. I must commend Florida on spending the money to make this resource available to tourists. It definitely gave us an excellent first impression!
Check out all these things I snagged!
